---- — Judith “Judy” Neal Boyd, 76, Galveston, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at 9:16 a.m. Friday, Aug. 16, 2013, at Community Howard Regional Health System in Kokomo. She was born March 19, 1937, in Greentown, to Harvey and Ruth (Jones) Plummer.

She first married Everett Neal and he preceded her in death in 1987. She then married Dan Boyd on Oct. 22, 1988, and he survives.

Judy was an elementary school teacher for more than 34 years retiring in 1993. Everywhere Judy went, children were drawn to her and she to them. After retiring, she would substitute teach when called on for the next 19 plus years. She earned her master’s degree in education from Ball State University. She enjoyed her flower garden and spending time with her grandchildren. She always made holiday’s special for her family. Judy enjoyed cross-stitch, playing euchre, and the home ec club with her friends. She loved the Lord with all of her heart and read her Bible daily. She also enjoyed Beth Moore Bible studies. She served as a pastor’s wife with her husband Dan at Young America Baptist Church for 19 years. Judy and Dan were members of Blue Ball Church near Walton.

The family would like to give special thanks to the entire staff of Howard Regional Oncology Center, especially to Dr. Bechar for his special care of Judy.

She is survived by her husband, Dan Boyd, Galveston; two daughters, Stephanie Carmichael, Indiana; Theresa (Steve) Lynas, Galveston, four grandchildren, Casie (Ty) Woodhouse, Jerrod (Erin) Carmichael, Blake (Stephanie) Horner and Trent (Alyssa) Horner; three stepgrandchildren, Derek (Janna) Lynas, Melissa (Bill) Schmadeke, and Kyle (Stephanie) Lynas; 13 great-grandchildren and one on the way; two sisters, Shirley (Phil) Spencer, Kokomo, and Rita (Benny) Mullin, Rosebud, Ariz.; brother, Robert “Bob” Plummer, Kokomo.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her first husband, Everett Neal.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Blue Ball Church, 3017 E. Ind. 218, Walton, with Pastor Jeffery Hayes officiating. Burial will follow in Galveston Cemetery in Galveston. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Murray Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston and one hourr prior to services at the church Tuesday.
