Connie S. Johnson, 67, Kokomo, passed away at 10:25 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born Jan. 26, 1946, in Howard County, to William C. and Betty L (Hoover) Hawkins. On May 21, 1971, in Kokomo, she married Jack L. Johnson, who preceded her in death Dec. 16, 2002.
Connie retired from the Cass County Sheriff’s Department as the jail commander for Cass County with over 19 years of service. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Galveston Volunteer Fire Department.
She is survived by two sons, Mike and wife Debbie Krise, Kokomo, Chris and wife Susan Johnson, Montgomery, Ala.; and a daughter, Lisa Campbell, Indianapolis; six grandchildren, Heather, Austin, Garrett, Lindsay, Taylor and Ella; and four great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Larry Hawkins and Ronnie Hawkins, both of Galveston; a special friend, Janet, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack; brother, Terry; and daughter, Cathy Sue. Services will be at 6 p.m. Friday at Murray-Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. prior to services Friday at the funeral home. In keeping with Connie’s wishes, cremation will follow services.
