---- — Robert C. Fischvogt, 95, Kokomo, died at 2:25 Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2013, at Century Villa Health Care, Greentown. He was born July 21, 1918, in Tipton, the son of William and Amelia (Sandmann) Fischvogt. On May 30, 1941, in Alexandria, he married Ferman Eleanor Allen, who preceded him in death June 22, 2008.
Robert was a 1937 graduate of Tipton High School. He served in combat in the U.S. Army during World War II. He earned the rank of sergeant and was awarded the Purple Heart with one bronze cluster, the Bronze Star and the French Legion of Honor Medal for his service. He was employed at Chrysler Corp., retiring after 30 years of service. He was a member of Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer and UAW Local 685.
Robert is survived by his son, Robert (Patricia) Fischvogt, Kokomo; granddaughters, Melissa (Brent) Kelley, Logansport, and Stephanie (Eric) Neuhauser, Kokomo; great-grandchildren, Wyatt Kelley, Morgan Kelley, Lauren Kelley, Clayton Fischvogt, Tyler Neuhauser and Ellie Neuhauser; sister, Lenora Wise, Peru; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; two sisters, Louise Burkhardt and Mary Fischvogt; and one brother, William Fischvogt.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. today at Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer, 705 Southway Blvd. E., with Pastor William Allison officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens, with military honors provided by the U.S. Army. Friends may call at the church from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday.
