Michael W. Brooks, 66, passed away Sept. 9, 2013, at 10:38 p.m. at IU Health University Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born the son of Neil and Lila (Saylor) Brooks on Oct. 22, 1946 in Middlesboro, Ky.
Michael was a 1964 graduate of Kokomo High School and went on to serve his country in the U.S. Navy from 1965 to 1969, having done two tours in Vietnam. He was a machine operator at Chrysler for over 25 years, retiring in 2004. He was a member of UAW 685. He loved golf, fishing, and going to the beach in South Carolina. His favorite saying was: “One day at a time.”
The family wishes to make a special thank you to the IU Medical Center transplant team, as well as Community Howard Regional Hospital lab techs and radiology staff. They are especially appreciative of Alicia and Monica.
He is survived by his mother; daughters, Temple (Tony) Dominick, Irmo, S.C., and Hope (Doug) Moore, Greer, S.C.; grandchildren, Braxton and Ashlyn Moore; siblings, Gary (Marsha) Brooks and Diana (David) Hale; nieces, Tara (Robert) Walker, Jana (Brian) Caudill, Deron (Julie) Hale, Amy (Marc) Imboden; several great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Private services will be at Albright Cemetery in Kokomo, with Chaplain Bill Patrick officiating.
