Richard Martin Vigne Harlow, 38, passed away at 2:02 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2013, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born the son of John Martin and Roberta Severance Hollendersky on July 30, 1975, in Elkhart. He was raised from the age of 9 by Jeff and Becky Harlow.
Richard was a 1994 graduate of Tri-Central High School and studied automotive science at Ivy Tech Community College. He worked for Dick and Dave Blazer on their farm, and served on the Harrison Township and Indian Heights Volunteer Fire Departments. He was a member of Crossroads Community Church, and his hobbies included hunting, camping and fishing.
The family wishes to thank the St. Vincent LVAD Heart team and nurses. Richard was the longest living patient with this condition.
He is survived by his birth mother, Roberta Anne Hollendersky; siblings, Michael Hollendersky, Andrew Hollendersky, Robin Hollendersky, Robin O’ Brien, J. Zachary Anewich and Sandra Manracie; uncle, Richard Vigne; parents, Jeff and Becky Harlow; siblings, Will Harlow, Leslie Raab, Jessica Kluetz and Jennifer Conrad; grandmother, Sue Harlow; grandparents, Leon and Naomi Clark; a cousin who was like a brother, Jeff McDaniel; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his birth dad, John Martin Vigne; sister, Antoinette Marie Brademas; grandfather, Charles Vigne; and granddad, James Harlow.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home and Crematory Lincoln Road Chapel in Kokomo, with Pastor Kevin Smith officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 11 a.m. until the time of service.
