Robert Dale Cheek, 68, Kokomo, passed away at 4 a.m. Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at his home. He was born April 24, 1945, in Circleville to the late William F. and Dora Irene (Surber) Cheek. On June 23, 1976, Dale married Esther Ellen Dean, who survives.
Dale enjoyed sports, especially basketball, golf and fishing. He also enjoyed gardening.
Dale was a kind, loving man who cherished spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, brothers and sisters, and extended family.
He is survived by his wife, Esther; children, Daniel Bookout and Tammy Bookout; grandchildren, Colten Fowler, Ciara Fowler, Zachary Bookout, Valerie Bookout and Zachary Bookout; brothers and sisters, Ruth Royce, Velma (Chuck) Householder, Marjorie (Jack) Francis, Bobbie Johnson, Betty Nead, Frank (Vicki) Cheek, Roy (Trudy) Cheek, Lois Hamilton, Linda Sparling and Kathleen (Steve) Fearnow.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Angelique Fowler; a brother, James Thomas Cheek; and a sister, Genita Young.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Shirley & Stout Funeral Homes & Crematory, Lincoln Road Chapel, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, with the Rev. Bob Woods officiating. Burial will follow in Albright Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 1 p.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.
