D. Mark Reed

Feb. 25, 1932 - May 14, 2013

— D. Mark Reed, 81, Monticello, died at 4:50 a.m., Tuesday, May 14, 2013, at I.U. Health White Memorial Hospital.

He was born Feb. 25, 1932, in Saginaw, Mich., to the late Herman and Josephine (Moyers) Reed. He married the former Sherry (Moran) Booher on June 15, 1971, in Kankakee, Ill. She survives.

He was a member of New Hope Lutheran Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, serving during the Korean War. He retired as a supervisor in 1987 from Chrysler Transmission in Kokomo. He retired from Monon Trailor in 2003. He also delivered for Rockey’s Pizza. Following retirement, he moved to Monticello. He was a member of the Monticello VFW and the American Legion in Kokomo.

He enjoyed fishing, carpentry and cabinet making. He cherished time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He is also survived by seven children, Mark D. Reed (Kathy Riley), Asheboro, N.C., Robert Reed, Marco Island, Fla., Jay Reed, Monticello, Regina Cagle, Bloomington, Deborah Damron, Nashville, Tenn., Michelle Kelley, Kokomo, and Kerri (Bryan) Fischer, Monticello; one sister, Beverly (Cebrun) Mudford, Arkansas; one brother, Bill Reed, Cincinnati, Ohio; two brothers-in-law, Darrell (Karen) Moran, Decatur, Ill., and Scott (Kathy) Moran, Scottsdale, Ariz.; 15 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

He is also preceded in death by his grandson, Zacc Fischer; one brother; and one sister.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., today at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with Tim Russell officiating. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens in Kokomo. Full military rites will be observed.

In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Twin Lakes School Corp. to benefit Tina Haworth’s special education classroom. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
