Weldon L. Turner, 72, Peru, died at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 6, 2011, at St. Joseph Hospital, Fort Wayne. He was born July 16, 1938, to Charles and Gertrude B. (Grimes) Turner. On Sept. 22, 1960, he married Lona (Johnson) Turner, and she survives.
He was a member of the U.S. Navy and the Army Reserves and was retired from Chrysler. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Bunker Hill Fish and Game, and USS Hancock (CVA19). He enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting and spending time with this family.
He is survived by his wife; daughters, Kimberly (Jeff) Deniston, Kokomo, and Kristi (Craig) Brown, Peru; sons, David Turner, Peru, and John (Gail) Turner, Wabash; seven grandchildren, Haylee Deniston, Sara Bowen, Braxton Deniston, Mark Thompson Jr., Cody Turner, Zach Thompson and Cami Brown; several nieces and nephews; brother, Larry (Shirley) Murphy, Florida; and sister, Barbara (Norm) Knowlton, Peru.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother; and granddaughter, Brittany Turner.
Services are 1 p.m. Monday at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, 105 W. Third St., Peru, with the Rev. John Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Peru. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home.
