Otis J. Oliver, 73, Kokomo, went to be with the Lord Sunday, April 14, 2013, at Waterford Place. He was born April 29, 1939, in Kokomo, to Murvin and Elizabeth (Dunn) Oliver. On Jan. 1, 1959, he married Saundra (Ulerich) Oliver, and she preceded him in death Nov. 9, 2008.
He served in the U.S. Navy from 1958 to 1962 and retired from Sears in 1999 after 34 years of service. He enjoyed golfing and crossword puzzles and was an avid reader and accomplished woodworker. He cherished spending time with his grandchildren and loved being active in their lives.
He is survived by three children, Tracee (Tom) Carter, David (June) Oliver and Vickie (Andy) Carter; grandchildren, Christopher (Felicia) Carter, Holly (David) Lewis, Jennifer Carter, Rachele Carter and Lynsie Carter; great-grandchildren, Carissa Carter and one due in June; brother, Richard “Dick” (Diana) Oliver; mother-in-law, Agnes Ulerich; sister-in-law, Becky Green; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Roberta Rose.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Cole officiating. Entombment will take place in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
