Robert “Bob” Stodgell, 74, Kokomo, passed away at 5:01 a.m. Monday, April 22, 2013, at his residence. He was born May 8, 1938, in Kokomo, to the late Russell and Bernice (McKinley) Stodgell. On Feb. 25, 1967, he married Pat (Hannon), and she survives.
He graduated from Kokomo High School in 1956. He then served in the Indiana National Guard. Jim retired from Chrysler as an inspector after 33 years of service.
Robert was a member and also past officer for the American Legion Post 6, Forty & Eight Club, and a member of the UAW 685. He served as secretary on his UAW bowling league.
Robert loved his pets and enjoyed bowling, fishing, golf and collecting rocks and fossils.
Surviving are his wife, Pat Stodgell, Kokomo; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Anthony Stodgell, Deer Creek, Troy and Lisa Stodgell, Kokomo; seven grandchildren, Cassandra Little, Jennifer Stodgell, Jamie Stodgell, Tyler Stodgell, Shelby Stodgell, Noah Stodgell and Gracie Estok. Also surviving are three great-grandchildren; one sister, Patricia Wallpe, Kokomo; a brother and sister-in-law, David and Sharon Stodgell, Kokomo; and a nephew, Steve Wooley, Kokomo.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother-in-law, Edward Wallpe.
Funeral services for Bob will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Ellers Mortuary Webster Street, 3400 S. Webster St., with Pastor Steve Allen officiating. Burial will follow at Galveston Cemetery with full military rites conducted by the VFW military rites team. Friends may visit with the family from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary.
