Mary Claranne (Ely) Budd, 78, Kokomo, passed away at 5:14 p.m. Thursday, April 25, 2013, at St. Joseph Hospital. She was born Aug. 25, 1935, in Kokomo to Willard Jay and Edna (Boyer) Ely. On Dec. 28, 1956, by William J. Briggs, at Beamer United Methodist in Kokomo she married Donald Eugene Budd, and he survives.
She graduated from Kokomo High School in 1953 and graduated in 1956 from Indianapolis General Hospital School of Nursing, which is presently Wishard Hospital. She retired in 1995 from St. Joseph Hospital after 31 years as a registered nurse. Mary was a 60-year member of Beamer United Methodist Church, past district treasurer of Women’s Ministry North Indiana Methodist Churches, member Kokomo Nursing Club. She also was a present member of New Life Assembly of God Church in Kokomo, and a past board member of Women’s Ministry at New Life Assembly of God. She enjoyed ceramics, cooking, candy making, cake decorating and collecting cookbooks.
Survivors include her husband of Kokomo; a son, Jeffrey Scot and wife Stacy Budd; son, Randall Kent and wife Ellea Budd; and four grandsons, Elliott Benjamin Budd, Steve Rannazzisi, Joey Rannazzisi and Nicholas Rannazzisi.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Chester Lee Ely.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Ellers Mortuary Webster Street Chapel, 3400 S. Webster St., with Pastor Randy Blankenship officiating. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the mortuary.
