Grant E. Poynter, 87, Greentown, died at 10:55 p.m. Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at Century Villa Healthcare, Greentown. He was born April 9, 1926, in North Liberty, the son of Harvey and Anna (Sheaks) Poynter. He was married July 15, 1951, to Lou Anna L. (Worthington) Poynter, and she survives.
Mr. Poynter had worked as a supervisor at Western Electric for 30 years. He was a 1945 graduate of North Liberty High School. He was a lifetime member of the North Liberty United Methodist Church and had also attended Trinity United Methodist Church in Kokomo. He also served on the board of directors for Kokomo Urban Outreach.
The family would also like to express a special thank you to Century Villa Healthcare, the nurses and staff.
Surviving are his wife, Lou Anna Poynter; daughter; Lynne Ann (Steve) Kurtz, Kokomo; sister, Phyllis Baldoni, South Bend; and special friends, Rich and Janine Ravas.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Beulah Schwanke.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Hasler & Stout Funeral Home, 112 E. Main St., Greentown, with Pastor Jeff Newton officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Greentown, following the service. Friends may call from 1 p.m. until time of the service at 3 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Kokomo Urban Outreach and/or Kokomo Humane Society. Arrangements are being handled by Hasler and Stout Funeral Home, Greentown. Online condolences can be made at www.hasler-stout.com.
