Marilyn S. Short, 62, Kokomo, died at 1:58 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 22, 2007, at St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis. She was born May 11, 1944, in Rockport, to Harold and Blanche Brown. She married David Coffman in August 1963 in Greentown, and he preceded her in death in July 1983. On Jan. 19, 2002, she married Sam B. Short in Kokomo.
She served as an officer of the Moose Lodge Auxiliary of Kokomo, she was a member of the Eagles Lodge and the auxiliary. She loved camping and fishing and was an avid NASCAR fan.
She is survived by her husband, Sam B. Short; mother, Blanche Brown, Kokomo; daughter, Paula Stewart and husband Steve; and two grandchildren, Susan and Jimmy Stewart, all of Kokomo; she is also survived by five stepchildren, Yvonne Murphy and husband Rick, Indianapolis, Mona Evoy and husband Kent, Carmel, Colleen Palumbo and husband Tony, Greentown, Justin Short and wife Evelyn, and Mark Young and wife Sandy, all of Kokomo; nine stepgrandchildren; and aunt and uncle, Henry and Wilma Langdon, Rockport.
She was preceded by her father, Harold Brown; her first husband, David Coffman; a son, Vernon Coffman; and a daughter, Brenda Coffman.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Ellers Mortuary Main Street Chapel, 725 S. Main St., Kokomo, with Pastor Keith Cramer officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery Greentown. Calling will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Leukemia AML Foundation, and envelopes will be provided at the mortuary.
