Roger Dale “Rod” Mossholder Jr., 58, Kokomo, died at 9:50 p.m. Monday, Jan. 28, 2008, at his home. He was born Feb. 14, 1949, in Howard County, the son of William Leroy and Mary Evelyn (Ward) Mossholder. On Sept. 20, 1969, in Kokomo, he married Kathy Jo Robinson, who survives.
Rod retired as a pipe fitter in 2002. He was a member of the pipe fitters and steam fitters, local 440.
He enjoyed NASCAR racing and had raced his own car at the Kokomo Speedway. He also enjoyed fishing, camping, home remodeling and working on cars.
Survivors include his wife, Kathy Jo Mossholder, Kokomo; two sons, Roger Dale Mossholder Jr., Jerry Lee Mossholder and his companion, Heather Baugher, all of Kokomo; eight grandchildren, Roger Dale III, Jeremiah Edward, Michael Wayne, Austin Jacob, Lexi, Catlyn, Destiny, Malinda; a younger brother whom he loved like a son, Dallas Eric Mossholder Sr. and his wife Amanda; a sister, Marcia Davis and her husband, Robert Davis; two brothers-in-law, Chuck Martin, James Robinson Jr. and his wife, Carolyn; a special ex-daughter-in-law, Melissa Pace; one uncle, Jack Mossholder; three aunts, Phyllis Bugher, Carolyn Heines and her husband, Dwayne, Ann Alexander and her husband, D., a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins, and many very special friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother William Leroy “Pudge” Mossholder, Jr.; two sisters, Peggy Martin, Rachael Mossholder; one brother-in-law, John David Robinson; several aunts and uncles, including a special uncle, Paul, who shared a birthday with Rod; one special niece, Mary Davis; one special nephew, Phillip Robinson; his father-in-law, James Edward Robinson Sr.; and his mother-in-law, Viola Wright.
Friends and family are invited to a gathering in celebration of Rod’s life at 4 p.m. through the evening Saturday at the family home, 1220 N. Webster St. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2723 S. Albright Road, Kokomo, IN 46902. Shirley & Stout Funeral Home, Jefferson Street Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
