Beverly “Kay” K. Hounchell, 67, Kokomo, passed away at 3:55 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013, at Kindred Transitional Care and Rehabilitation, Kokomo. She was born July 17, 1945, the daughter of the late Paul and Mary (Lovejoy) Otiker. In August 1966, Kay married Billy Clayton Hounchell and they were happily married until his passing in May 2010.
Kay graduated from Kokomo High School in 1964. She went to work for General Motors at Delco Electronics, where she worked for 31 years before retiring. Kay enjoyed being home. She always enjoyed a redecorating project, cooking and crafts. Kay also did an excellent job of looking after and caring for her family.
Kay is survived by her son, David Hounchell; daughter, Mary Hounchell; three sisters, Nancy J. Bogue, Kathy Bostic and Paula Ferrell; grandchildren, Haley Hounchell, Eric Hounchell and Aaron Hounchell, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Kay was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a sister, Joyce Sholty.
There will be a funeral service for Kay at 10 a.m. Saturday at Ellers Mortuary Webster Street Chapel, 3400 S. Webster St., with Pastor Dale Bliss officiating.
Following the funeral service, we will be taking Kay to her final resting place in Galveston Cemetery, Galveston. All of Kay’s family and friends are welcome to join together for a time of visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, also at the mortuary.
