Alexander Franklin Bunn Jr., 88, passed away at 9:47 a.m. Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at Community Howard Regional Health. He was born March 13, 1925 in Premier, W. Va. to Rev. Alexander Franklin Bunn Sr., and Alice (Pillers) Bunn.
Frank enlisted in the Naval Armed Guard in 1943 as a Navy Gunner on the vessel SS William L. Smith at US NTC Miami, Fla. Frank crossed the Atlantic Ocean six times while proudly serving his country. He was honorably discharged in 1946. Upon returning home he married Bernice Maxine McCoy on Dec. 31, 1949. They were married 63 years. After working at National Tube, in Lorain, Ohio, he relocated to Kokomo, where he was employed at Kokomo Chrysler Casting. He retired in 1987 after 28 years of service, where he was an active member of UAW Local 1166.
Frank is survived by three sons: Michael “Mick” (Brenda) Bunn, Steve (Kim) Bunn and Donald Bunn; three daughters: Sandy (Dan) Cook, Vicki (Larry) Wheeler and Barbie (Brian) Dobbert; 10 grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and five sisters.
Funeral services for Frank will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, at Ellers Mortuary Main Street Chapel, 725 S. Main St. Pastor Mike Milligan will officiate. Frank’s friends may visit from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. before the service.
