Robert H. Smith, 83, Galveston, passed away Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at Waterford Place Health Campus in Kokomo. He was born Dec. 13, 1930, in Kokomo to Charles A. and Minnie L. (Burns) Smith. On Nov. 22, 1950, in Kokomo, he married Rebecca J. Smith, who preceded him death Oct. 31, 2010.
Robert worked for Stellite in Kokomo 30 years, and retired in 1985. He served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1954. He was a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite in Indianapolis, Shriners, and a life member of the American Legion.
Survivors include daughter, Brenda and husband Mike Fross, Galveston; grandchildren, Melissa Fross, Galveston, and Adam Christopher and wife Jenelee Fross, Florida; three great-grandchildren, Biancia, Kaiden and Bentley Fross; special sister-in-law, Janet Smith, Florida; and nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brothers, Charles L. Smith and William L. Smith; and sisters, Lillian Fording and Rosie Smith.
Funeral services were held Saturday at Murray Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston, with Rev. Warren K. Purcell officiating. Burial took place in Galveston Cemetery with military rites graveside. Calling hours were held Saturday at the funeral home.
