Robert Eugene Ironmonger

— Robert Eugene Ironmonger, 84, Kokomo, passed away Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at Community Howard Regional Health. He was born Aug. 14, 1928, in Kokomo, to Floyd E. and Mildred L. (Horner) Ironmonger. On April 4, 1974, he married Helen Ironmonger, who preceded him in death June 2, 2001.

He worked at Kokomo Gas & Fuel for 43 years before his retirement. He and Helen built their dream home together. He was an avid NASCAR fan, enjoyed fishing and was a jack of all trades. He was known affectionately as the Kokomo Grouch.

He is survived by one daughter, Linda Vogt, Kokomo; one son, Steven (Cindy) Ironmonger, Georgia; two stepdaughters, Ruth (Mike) Dunn, Kokomo, and Suzanne Taylor, Chicago; seven grandchildren, Robert J. (Lisa) Ironmonger, Vicky (Tim) Watson, Andrew (Natilee) Jones, Andrea (Scott) Haggitt, Scott (fiancee Kim) Vogt, Paris Ironmonger and Wendy Ruse; several great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brothers, David Ironmonger and Larry (Ellen) Ironmonger; and sisters, Sharon Nelson, Carolyn Herd, Darlene Branscum and Nancy Martin.

He was preceded in death by his wife; by his parents; three brothers; one sister; one son, Jeffrey Ironmonger; and two grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home, Kokomo. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
