Ronald Earl Bliss, 78, Kokomo, passed away at 3:23 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2014, at St. Joseph Hospital. He was born Aug. 22, 1935, in Kokomo, to the late Chester L. and Mary Lou (Thompson) Bliss. He first married Rita Carol (Snyder) Aug. 14, 1955; she preceded him in death Dec. 10, 1978. He then married Louellen (Holt) June 2, 1979, and she preceded him in death Oct. 29, 2004.
Ronald had worked at Blount Buick in Winter Haven, Fla., as an auto tech. He also had worked at Conkle Pontiac and Standard Oil Gas Station in Kokomo. Ronald enjoyed fishing, cooking, NASCAR and bingo, but he especially enjoyed being with his family.
Surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, David and Sheila Bliss, Lafayette, Daniel and Sharon Bliss, Polo, Ill., and Pastor Dale and Julie Bliss, Kokomo; a daughter and a son-in-law, Rhonda and Jack Scott, Winter Haven, Fla.; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother and a sister-in-law, Joe and Ginger Bliss, Kokomo; and a sister and a brother-in-law, Nancy and Joe Maple, Unicoi, Tenn.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Ellers Mortuary Webster Street Chapel, 3400 S. Webster St., with his son, Pastor Dale Bliss, officiating. Burial will follow in Crown Point Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the mortuary.
