Elburn E. “Bud” Winters, 84, Kokomo, died at 7:45 p.m. Friday, Jan. 24, 2014, at his home. He was born March 19, 1929 in Pulaski County, the son of Ernest O. and Osica (Cassidy) Winters. On May 16, 1950, in Adamsboro, he married Wanda J. (White) Winters, who preceded him in death March 2, 2009.
“Bud” was employed in production at Chrysler, retiring in June 1994. He served his country in the U.S. Army and was a member of UAW 685, Main Street United Methodist Church of Logansport, Kokomo Metro Kiwanis, and was active at the Kokomo Senior Center. He enjoyed attending Kokomo High School boys and girls basketball and football games.
“Bud” is survived by daughter, Kathy Garner, Kokomo; granddaughter, Dawn (Jeff Pardue) Dunivan, Kokomo; great-grandchildren, Cody, Courtney, Callie and Jordan Pardue; sisters, Catherine Hahn, Joan Womack and Jerry Winters; and several nieces and nephews.
“Bud” was preceded in death by his wife; parents; sisters, Luella Lewis and Mable Winters; and brothers, Eldon and Keith Winters.
Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, Lincoln Road Chapel, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, with Pastor Damon Soper officiating. Military honors will be provided by the U.S. Army and Kokomo VFW Military Rites Team. Burial will follow in Everest Cemetery in Logansport. Friends may call on the family from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
