C. Eileen Garrison Hayes, 78, Kokomo, passed away at 6:47 p.m. Feb. 20, 2013, at Kindred Health Care. She was born on July 28, 1934, to Paul and Dorothy (Hendrix) Garrison in Carroll County. She was married in 1960 to Kenneth Hayes, who is the father of her children, then later married Keith King. Both preceded her in death.
Eileen was a homemaker then started as an aide in the library with the Kokomo-Center School Corp. She also was a telephone operator for St. Joseph Hospital. Eileen was a Burlington High School graduate. Eileen attended First Brethren Church in Burlington. She loved music and playing the piano for funerals and weddings. Eileen also had a great love for her family and grandchildren.
Survivors include a daughter, Scharna (Mark) Bends, Goshen; son, Bart (Anita) Hayes, Bellbrook, Ohio; sister, Karen (Bill) Barnard, Flora; brother, Joe Garrison, Russiaville; five grandchildren, Eric (Tiffany) Bends, Bluffton, Nathan Bends, Goshen, Linnea Bends, Goshen, Mattie Eileen Hayes, St. Petersburg, Fla., Audrey Hayes, Bellbrook, Ohio; one great-grandchild, Elijah Bends.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Stout & Son Funeral Home, Neptune Chapel, 44 Michigan St., Burlington, with the Rev. Mike Ratcliff officiating the service. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Burlington Cemetery. The family wishes to express their gratitude for the care given by nurses and aides at Kindercare and Premier Hospice.
