Virginia P. 'Ginnie' Severns

March 30, 1931 - June 26, 2013

Virginia P. “Ginnie” Severns, 82, Kokomo, died at 12:55 a.m. Wednesday, June 26, 2013, surrounded by her family after suffering a massive stroke on Saturday evening in Kokomo. She was born March 30, 1931, in Kokomo, the daughter of Cecil and Emma (Percival) Pierce. On Oct. 1, 1950, she married E.P. Severns, who survives.

Ginnie was a 1949 graduate of Kokomo High School and attended IUK from 1950 to 1951. She was a homemaker and worked at Continental Steel while attending IUK. She enjoyed cooking, traveling, and volunteering. She was past president of the Cheer Guild. She was an active member of Grace United Methodist Church and participated in several Bible study groups. She was a member of the Symposium, where she was past president, and a member of PEO, where she was past president. One of her passions was that all of her grandchildren either have attended or are currently attending Culver Academies.

Ginnie loved spending time with her family at Lake Maxinkuckee, where she cherished decades of memories. On Saturday afternoon, Ginnie told E.P. (while enjoying the view of the lake) how much she loved her home in Kokomo and her home in Culver.
