Robert J. “Bob” Gillam, 78, Galveston, died at 3 p.m. Tuesday, June 25, 2013, in his home. He was born Oct. 25, 1934, in Kokomo, to Robert J. and Elizabeth (Burns) Gillam Sr. He first married Marilyn M. (Johnson) Gillam on Feb. 6, 1957, and she preceded him in death on Nov. 29, 2002. He then married Betty Donahue Gillam on June 3, 2006, and she survives.
He was self-employed in construction and remodeling.
He was a member of Chapel Hill Church in Kokomo and Galveston American Legion. He enjoyed woodworking and fishing in his pond. He had served in the Air Force.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Gillam, Galveston; son, Ronald L. Gillam and wife Pat, Westfield; daughter, Dianne L. Taylor and husband Jerry, Galveston; five grandchildren, Brenda Gillam, Shaela Taylor, Melissa Gillam, Colton Taylor and Gavin Taylor; a brother, Charlie (Carol) Gillam, Kokomo; and two sisters, Pat Gillam, Logansport, and Ginny Gillam, Terre Haute.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Marilyn; two grandchildren, Austin and Bailey Taylor; and two brothers and one sister.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Galveston United Methodist Church, with Rich Saxton officiating. Burial will be in Galveston Cemetery, with military rites. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the church.
