Carolyn “Kay” Steur, 69, Kokomo, passed away at 8:35 a.m. Tuesday Oct. 9, 2012, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family. Carolyn was born Aug. 19, 1943, in Kokomo, to the late Vivan C. and Margaret M. Giles. Her marriage to Harold D. Steur, who survives, was on Oct. 13, 1962. They would have shared 50 years together this Saturday.
Carolyn worked in food service for over 40 years. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed baking with her granddaughters.
Survivors include her husband, Harold D. Steur; a son, David S. Steur (Ann Hernandez), Round Rock, Texas; two daughters, Kelly J. Byrum, Kokomo, and Kathy Steur-Acosta, Bunker Hill; grandchildren, Zachary L. Byrum, Flora, Amber N. Collins, Kokomo, Mary E. Steur-Weiss, Mission, Texas, Stephanie B. Byrum-Polk, Kokomo, and Shelby Steur, Driftwood, Texas; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Robert A. Giles, Greentown, and Gerald D. Giles, Lasalle, Colo.; and two sisters, Beverly A. Cobb, Savanah, Ga., and Shirley J. Fraiser, Kokomo.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a granddaughter, Melissa R. White; a grandson, Jackson Steur; three brothers, Fred Giles, Billy J. Giles and Donald Giles; and a sister, Sharon Giles.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Ellers Mortuary Webster Street Chapel, 3400 S. Webster St. Services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, also at the mortuary, with Pastor Steve Allen officiating. Burial will take place in Albright Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Carolyn’s memory may be made to the Diabetes Association or the American Cancer Society. Envelopes will be provided at the mortuary.
