Richard James McClish

April 1, 1936 - Oct. 22, 2012

Kokomo — Richard James McClish, 76, Kokomo, passed away at 1 a.m. Monday, Oct. 22, 2012, at Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis. He was born on April 1, 1936, to the late Elmer and Mary (Wyant) McClish in Kokomo. On Nov. 10, 1956, in Kokomo, he married Shareen (Samuelson) McClish. Mrs. McClish survives.

Richard worked as a steelworker for 32 years at Continental Steel from 1954 until retiring in 1986.

He was a member of Bible Baptist and was very active in the church with numerous activities. Richard was always eager to help someone, showing his love and care for people. He also enjoyed working with his hands building bird houses. His bird houses were beautiful and highly detailed. Richard was an avid hunter and fisherman. He thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren. He will be greatly missed. “Well done my good and faithful servant.”

Surviving is his wife, Shareen McClish; two sons, Rockey (Barbara) McClish, Kokomo, Ryan (Mona) McClish, Flora; one brother, Elmer McClish, Cross Plains, Tenn.; two sisters, Joann Lindenmoyer, Nazareth, Pa., Gertrude Wallace, Carmel; grandchildren, Rockey McClish II, Rebecca (David) Jorgenson, Kyle McClish and fiancee, Wendy Pund, Christopher (Jen Simpson) McClish, Amber Gibson and Adam Gibson; great-grandchildren, Anthony Jorgenson and Jannaleigh McClish.  

He was preceded in death by his parents; and four siblings, Arietha Roark, Ruth Gentry, Margaret Kline and Robert McClish.   

Funeral services will be at noon Friday at Ellers Mortuary Webster Street Chapel, 3400 S. Webster St., with Pastor Bill Carmichael officiating. Burial will follow at Albright Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 10 a.m. to noon Friday at the mortuary.

Memorial contributions in Richard’s memory may be directed to the Peyton Manning’s Children Hospital, with envelopes will be provided at the mortuary. Ellers Mortuary Webster Street Chapel has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
