Kent E. Acton, 67, Logansport, passed away at noon Monday, March 19, 2012, at his residence. Born March 27, 1944, in Speedway, he was the son of Merl and Genevieve Woods Acton.
On Feb. 14, 1996, he was married to Rhenda Wines, who survives.
Kent was a retired tool and die maker for Delco Electronics. He was a member of Tipton Masonic Lodge and the Knights Templar. He was a car enthusiast and an avid, obsessive reader. More than anything, Kent was a gentle soul and a very loving and loved person.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a son, Derrick Acton, Logansport; daughter, Liz (Mike) Whitham, Flora; brother, Gary (Eva) Acton, Poland; and step-sons, Matt (Erin) Cottrell, Greentown, and Andy Cottrell (partner Lou D’Esposito), Minneapolis.
Three grandchildren survive, Kayleigh Steinberger, Mitchell Whitham and Drew Jackson; one great-grandson, Corbin Turner; and a step- granddaughter, Kristen Cottrell.
A sister, Elaine Strnatka, preceded him in death.
The funeral will be 1 p.m. Friday at Kroeger Funeral Home, 711 E. Market St., Logansport. Bob Cosby will officiate. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will be private.
