Charles G. “Chuck” Hill

Nov. 9, 1926 - May 4, 2013

— Charles G. “Chuck” Hill, 86, Greentown, was welcomed into the arms of his Savior Saturday evening, May 4, 2013, after a long battle with Parkinson’s. Chuck was born Nov. 9, 1926, to Raymond and Susie (Snyder) Hill. In 1948, he married Shirley Jane Myers, Greentown, and she survives.

Upon his discharge from the Navy in 1946, he was employed by Chrysler. He retired from Chrysler in 1980. Ordained by Christ for the world, Chuck was a minister at Phlox New Hope Friends Church and then pastored at First Salem Baptist Church in Windfall. He retired from the ministry in 1995.

Chuck graduated in 1944 from Union High School and entered the United States Navy shortly after. He was a member of Greentown Meridian Street Christian Church upon his passing. He was also a member of UAW Local 685.

Chuck is survived by his wife, Shirley; their two sons, Danny C. (Nancy) Hill, Comanche, Okla., and Donny J. (Catharine) Hill, Greentown; grandchildren, Dawn (James) Scott, Geronimo, Okla., Diana (Troy) Niswonger, Middlebury, Darrin (Brandie) Hill, Geronimo, Okla., Heather (Justin) Bricker, Amboy, Jared (Ashley) Hill, Greentown, Billy (Allison) Woodward, California, and Cheri (Mike) Hensley, Oklahoma City, Okla., Dwayne Jones, Denver, Colo.; and family friend, Jorge Burmicky, Waco, Texas. He was blessed with several great-grandchildren, Justin, Taylor and Erin Scott, Megan and Holly Hill, Shelby and Lucas Niswonger, Hadleigh and Grayston Bricker, Everett Woodward and Audriana and Madisyn Hensley. Also surviving are his brother, Robert Hill, Kokomo, and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Great Lakes Hospice Care for their compassionate service and a special thanks to Courtney Lowry, Chuck’s at-home caregiver, along with Ashley Hill and Tonya Hancock. They were the glue that held us all together during his illness and to them we are forever grateful.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Raymond and Susie Hill; brother, James Hill; sisters, Clarabelle Mart and Betty Jo Off and Phyllis Wright Miller.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Hasler & Stout Funeral Home, 112 E. Main St., Greentown, with the Rev. Jesse Horner and Pastor Bruce Mughmaw officiating. Military rites will be provided by the American Legion Post 317 in Greenlawn Cemetery, Greentown, following the funeral service. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, also at the funeral home.
