Eleanor (Bolinger) Schneider, 91, died Sunday, May 5, 2013, at Waterford Place Health Campus in Kokomo. She was born July 29, 1921, in Clay Township, Howard County to Victor C. and Corrine Bolinger.
Eleanor graduated from Clay Township High School, then earned her bachelor’s degree in education at Indiana University Bloomington. After a short stint teaching in Greentown, she moved to Northwestern, where she taught English for 30 years before retirement. Eleanor had many talents, including playing the saxophone, painting and ballroom dancing with her husband Norman.
Eleanor loved reading, poetry and taking care of the family farm. She will always be remembered for her enthusiasm for holidays, especially Christmas. She enjoyed walking downtown and was an avid swimmer
She is survived by her nephew, Donald J. Bolinger II and his wife Leslie; and her great-nephew, Bo Bolinger.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Norman J. Schneider; her brother, Donald J. Bolinger; and her great-nephew, Zachary Shuck.
A graveside service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at Sunset Memory Gardens Cemetery. Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
