Ralph Loris Painter

Feb. 24, 1944 - May 8, 2013

Ralph Loris Painter, 69, Kokomo, passed away at 11:45 a.m. Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at St. Vincent Hospice, Indianapolis. He was born Feb. 24, 1944, in Kokomo to the late Ralph L. and Leona M. (Robertson) Painter. On May 25, 1971, in Tennessee he married Karen J. (Turner), and she survives.

He retired in 1994 from the City of Kokomo. After retiring, he enjoyed working on windows, installing vinyl siding, and carpentry work. In his earlier years, Ralph enjoyed riding his Harley Davidsons. He also enjoyed restoring old cars, going to car shows and vacationing in Bradenton, Fla. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. His life revolved around his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.         

Surviving are his wife, Karen J. Painter, Kokomo; one son and a daughter-in-law, Danny and Angie Painter, Kokomo; daughter and a son-in-law, Michelle and Charles “Judd” Carter, Arkansas; grandchildren, Stephanie Harrell, Brittany Painter, Mallory Painter-Lee, Chelsea Painter, Madeline Painter, Kaylie Painter, Taylor Painter, Shelly Carter, Justin Carter, Corey Haus, Layne Vestal and Nathan Lee; great-grandchildren, Makenzie, Dillon and Sophia; stepgrandchildren, Allison Schultz and Jessica Schultz; his mother-in-law, Lois J. Turner, Kokomo; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters.  

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Ellers Mortuary Main Street Chapel, 725 S. Main St., with Pastor Dennis Chapman officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 11 a.m. until time of service Saturday at the mortuary.

Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Vincent Hospice, with envelopes provided at the mortuary.
