William G. “Bill” Harshbarger, 61, Kirklin, died at 6:55 p.m. Wednesday, March 16, 2011, at Seton Specialty Hospital, Indianapolis. He had been ill for the past 10 months. He was born July 8, 1949, in Clinton County, to Glenn A. and Emmagene (Huffer) Harshbarger. He married Janis L. Guffy on June 16, 1979, in Kirklin, and she survives.
Mr. Harshbarger was a 1967 graduate of Clinton Central High School and was a lifelong Clinton County resident. He worked at Chrysler Transmission in Kokomo, retiring in 2009 after 42 years. He was a member of the UAW. Bill enjoyed the outdoors, camping, target shooting and especially his family.
He is survived by his mother, Emmagene Zarifis, rural Michigantown; father, Glenn A. Harshbarger, Lafayette; wife, Janis L. Harshbarger, Kirklin; son, William G. Harshbarger Jr., Lafayette; daughter, Lynette M. Harshbarger (fiancé Jim Bauerle Jr.), Carmel; three sisters, Judith A. Crum, Michigantown, Beverly K. Harmon (Joe), Kokomo, and Janice L. Wolfe (Byron), Rossville; three half-sisters, Jill Lytle, North Carolina, Margo Murry, Indianapolis, and Melissa Harshbarger, Burlington; and one half-brother, Miles Harshbarger (Lori), Burlington.
He was preceded in death by one sister.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday at Goodwin Funeral Home, 200 S. Main St., Frankfort. Visitation is 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Kirklin.
