Chalmer E. Hite, 93, Crescent City, Fla., formerly of Kokomo, passed away at 7:45 a.m. Friday, March 15, 2013, in Roberts Care Center, Palatka, Fla. Born April 3, 1919, in Kokomo, he is the son of the late Piercy William Hite and Florence (Lewellyn) Hite. On Dec. 14, 1963, he married Mildred Maria (Mummert). She preceded him in death Aug. 7, 2001.
He was a foreman for Delco Electronics, retiring after over 40 years of service. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in World War II. He was a member of the Moose Lodge and enjoyed flying planes and traveling.
Survivors include one daughter, Judith Ann (Don) Mann, Kokomo; one brother, Steve R. Hite, Kokomo; two sisters, Betty Lou (Kenny) Johnson, Kokomo, and Peggy Jane Pettay, Kokomo; and also four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and two brothers, Eugene W. Hite and Paul R. Hite.
Services will be 1 p.m. Monday in Ellers Mortuary Webster Street Chapel, 3400 S. Webster St. The Rev. Nate Whisler will officiate. Burial with military rites by the U.S. Army and the Kokomo Military Rites Team will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. Monday at the mortuary.
