Paul J. Coleman, 89, Wartrace, Tenn., passed away at 7:25 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2013, at Heritage Medical Center in Shelbyville, Tenn. He was born June 9, 1924, in Bunker Hill to the late Ira G. and Lottie (Moore) Coleman. On Oct. 22, 1949, he married Betty Ruth Arthur, who preceded him in death Dec. 3, 2011.
Paul was a graduate of Bunker Hill High School and went on to serve his country with the Army during World War II. He was a letter carrier for the U.S. Post Office for 25 years and was also a member of First Baptist Church in Shelbyville, Tenn., as well as an active member in Senior 5.
He is survived by his son, Bruce G. (Kathy) Coleman, Portland, Tenn.; daughters, Diann R. (Tom) Parr, California, and Melanie A. (Roy Smith) Waters, Tennessee; grandchildren, Maria (Rick) Castro, Antonia Salazar, Sandy (Chris) Ross, Angelia Coleman, Amanda Coleman, Jacob Coleman, Shane (Elizabeth) Stuart, Dawn (Stuart) Montgomery and Justin (Crystal) Singer; great-grandchildren, Anthony, Donovan, Tanner, Amaya, Shawn, Sara, Shelby, Noah, Cole, Allissa, Monica, Meagan, and Breanna; two great-great-grandchildren, Cali and Cami; a sister, Norma Spangler, Kokomo; a sister-in-law, Mary Lovelace; as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Betty; a grandson, Lorenzo Salazar; brothers, Walter R. Coleman and Harold Coleman; sisters, Pearl Mays, Mabel Hand, Ruth Richards, and Dorothy Coleman.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Stout & Son Funeral Home Russiaville Chapel, 200 E. Main St., Russiaville, with Pastor Joyce Brooks officiating. Burial will follow in Barnett Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
