Martha Baker, 84, Walton, passed away at 12:05 a.m. Monday, Aug. 26, 2013, at Miller’s Merry Manor surrounded by her loving family. She was born Nov. 28, 1928, in Medaryville to the late Helen and Ray Banes.
She was a member of Walton Christian Church, a former member of Gay Niters Home Economics Club, retired cook from Lewis Cass High School and a homemaker. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and spending time with her family.
Survivors include Charles L. Baker, husband; her children, Charles L. Baker Jr. (Sandra), Kokomo, Jeffery S. (Nancy), Logansport, Randall S. (Lisa), Peru, Dennis D. (Elsie), Walton, Martalee Montgomery (Ron), Walton; 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. There are three sisters, Ramona (Jimmy) Departe, Casa Grande, Ariz, Judy (Ray) Propoes, Idaville, and Debra Durham, Dobie, Texas.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Walton Christian Church, Walton, with the Rev. Bill Collins officiating. Burial will follow at Walton IOOF Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 from 8 p.m. Thursday at Murray-Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston and one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.
