Frank H. Ingwersen, 81, Kokomo, passed away at 7:53 a.m. Monday, Aug. 26, 2013, at Community Howard Regional Health. He was born in Davenport, Iowa, Oct. 4, 1931, to the late Walter and Selma (Meishner) Ingwersen.
After graduating from high school in Davenport, Frank furthered his education by graduating from Iowa State University with a mechanical engineering degree in 1955. Frank married Marianne (Wentorp) Ingwersen on Aug. 29, 1953, at the Davenport Lutheran Church, and she survives.
Frank started his career in Wichita, Kan., with the Boeing Co. He then continued his career with General Motors as a facility manager in Luxemburg, Germany, from 1985 to 1989, before moving to Kokomo. He continued working for General Motors in Kokomo until 1992, finishing 33 years with the company.
Frank was a lifetime member and a past officer of the Kokomo Elks Lodge 190, and a past president of the Isaac Walton League. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, shooting skeet, wood carving and belonged to the Indiana Central Wood Turners.
Frank is survived by his wife, Marianne Ingwersen; daughter, Shari (Michael) Hart; granddaughter, Danielle (Mathew) Gunkel; and great-granddaughter, Allaura Gunkel.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Lee Ingwersen.
There will be a funeral service for Frank at 10 a.m. Thursday at Ellers Mortuary Webster Street Chapel, 3400 S. Webster St., with Pastor Doug Benham officiating. Following the funeral service, we will be taking Frank to his final resting place at Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery, where he will be interred with military rites provided by the Kokomo VFW military rites team. All of Frank’s friends and family are welcome to join together for a time of visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, also at the mortuary.
