Mickey “Mick” D. Arvin, 69, Kokomo, died at 8:05 a.m. Friday, Sept. 6, 2013, at Community Howard Hospital. He was born July 20, 1944, in Logansport, the son of John Donald and Evelyn A. (Skiles) Arvin. His mother survives in Kokomo. On March 20, 1971, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, he married Jill Gerhart and she survives.
Mick was a journeyman sheet metal worker who possessed the ability to perform maintenance on many projects. He was most proud of his entrepreneur skills starting several businesses. He was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman. He enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson. He served his country in the U.S. Army Reserve for six years in the 199th Ordinance Company.
Mick is survived by his wife; mother; son, Monty Arvin and wife, Christy, Kokomo; one daughter, Ashley Edwards and husband, Bill, Cleveland, Ohio; one grandson, Daulton C. Arvin; two brothers, Rick Arvin and wife, Janet, Kokomo, Dick Arvin, Florida; sister, Donna McReynolds and husband, Robert, Kokomo; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father and one sister, Janet.
Funeral services celebrating Mick’s life will begin at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, Jefferson St. Chapel, 414 W. Jefferson St. with Pastor Greg Reed officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Friends may call on the family from 4 until 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
