---- — Evelyn Eva Byom, 90, Kokomo, formerly from West Allis, Wis., died at 3:05 p.m. Monday, Sept. 30, 2013, at Waterford Place Health Campus. She was born Dec. 24, 1922, to Carl and Stella Oniszcuk.

She was raised on a dairy farm in Thorp, Wis. After high school, she moved to Milwaukee, Wis., where she met the love of her life. She married Elwood Byom on Nov. 20, 1946. They were married for 60 years.

She attended St. Joan of Arc Church in Kokomo, where she was a member of the Sunshine Club. She loved playing cards with them. She attended the activities of the Ballroom Dance Club of Kokomo. When she lived in West Allis, she was a member of St. Aloysius Church and was active in their Christian Women’s group. She was also a member of the Harnischfeger Retirees Club and loved their monthly meetings where she could play Sheepshead. Besides card playing, she loved to bowl, golf and fish. She enjoyed over 50 years of summer fishing vacations on Palmer Lake in northern Wisconsin. Her 3-dimentional hand-made pillows were a treasure to friends and family. She loved to grow African violets and gave them as mementos to family and neighbors when she moved from Wisconsin.

Family was her joy. She is survived by one daughter, Loretta (Michael) Overdeck; two grandchildren, Thomas (Crystal) Overdeck and Allison (Brad) Collins; six great-grandchildren, Hudson, Ogden and Orin Overdeck, Blythe, Elyse and baby Collins; one sister, Angeline (Art) Fruhman; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death was her beloved husband, Elwood; her parents, Carl and Stella Oniszcuk; a brother, Edmund Oniszcuk; an infant brother, Joe; and two infant sisters, Mary and Irene.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff of the Legacy at Waterford Place Health Campus for their very kind and loving care giving, and also thank Serenity Hospice for their special care.

In Kokomo, a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. Friday at St. Joan Of Arc Catholic Church, 3155 S. 200 W., with the Rev. Father Marty Sandhage the celebrant. Friends are invited to call from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the church.

In the Milwaukee area, a scripture service will be held at noon Saturday at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 1414 S. 93rd St., West Allis, Wis. Friends are invited to call from 10:30 a.m. until noon at the church. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Cemetery in New Berlin, Wis.
