Charles Rolland Harner, 77, formerly of Kokomo, died Saturday, July 27, 2013, in Georgetown, Fla. He was born Feb. 7, 1936, in Kokomo, the son of Ernie and Myrtle (Walls) Harner. He married Patricia Maxon July 10, 2007, in Florida.
Charles Harner served his country in the Korean War and was employed with Delco for 10 years. He pursued his career as a Burger King franchisee, and later operated Burger Chef restaurants with his brother, Darvel Harner. He finished his 13-year career as a business owner, Cactus Charlie, and retired in Georgetown, Fla. He loved spending time with family, going on motorcycle rides and doing carpentry work.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernie and Myrtle, and brother, Darvel Harner.
Surviving is his wife, Patricia Harner, Georgetown, Fla. He has one surviving sister, Charlene Evans. He has six children, Rhonda Ridge, Randy Harner (wife Helen Harner), Colleen Hunter (husband Jeff Hunter), all of Kokomo, Carla Maddox (husband James Maddox), Palatka, Fla., Annie Miller, Astsuma, Fla., and Greg Harner, Minnesota. He has 15 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
