Monty Dean “Dino” Burress, 49, Russiaville, a cancer survivor of 31 years, died at 10:48 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013, at home after suffering from heart failure. He married Tonya Kay in 1991 in Kokomo, and she survives. Dino was born Oct. 18, 1963, in Kokomo to Dick and Mary (Cardwell) Burress.
Dino served in the National Guard from 1981 until 1983. He loved spending time with family and friends. Dino enjoyed traveling and camping.
Survivors include his wife Tonya Burress; son Elijah Ira Dean Burress; sisters Kathy (Steve) Russell and Sharon McCracken, both of Kokomo; brothers, Bill (Kathy) Burress, Dave (Kathy) Burress, Darrell (Linda) Burress, all of Kokomo; sisters-in-law Lisa (Rick) Turnpaugh, Texas, Kelly (Stewart) Harris, Arkansas, Erica (Cliff) Cartwright, Florida, Monica Lemmons, Kokomo; brothers-in-law, Jack (Tammy) Reynolds and Allen Reynolds, Alabama; 25 nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by parents, Dick and Mary Burress; brothers, Rich Burress and Nicky Joe Burress; mother in-law, Elizabeth Shephard; and nephew, Eric Scott Turnpaugh.
No funeral services are planed. Friends may call to celebrate Dino’s life from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at his home.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the funeral home to help with final expenses. Stout & Son Funeral Home 200 E. Main St., Russiaville, assisted in the funeral arrangements.
