Daisy B. Woodard, 81, Kokomo, passed away at 4:23 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1, 2013, at Community Howard Regional Health. Daisy B. Woodard was born on Dec. 5, 1931, the daughter of Fred Young and Mary Shiner Young in Savannah, Tenn. She was united in holy matrimony to Charlie Woodard for 66 years.
She had previously worked as an assembler at Chrysler Corp. She was a member for 35-plus years of Disciples of Christ, where she served as church mother and an usher. She was also an associate member of Straitgate Ministries.
She was preceded in death by her son, Larry Lee Woodard; daughter, Sharon Kay Brown; two sisters, Etta Mae Young, Mary Louella Young; and two brothers, Carl and Fred Young; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Charlie Woodard Sr.; daughter, Pamela Jean Knight (Kelvin); sons, Bishop Charles E. Woodard (Sonia), Pastor Jack L. Woodard (Katherine); son-in-law, Norvell Brown; special niece, LaRhonda Young; 27 grandchildren; 65 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Diabetes Association.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Grace Memorial Church of God In Christ. Bishop Charles E. Woodard will be the eulogist and Pastor Jack L. Woodard will be the officiant. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at the church. Burial will be in Crown Point Cemetery.
