‘When no one else would’
Mr. and Mrs. Kevin Ludlow of Tipton send this Cheer to a few Kokomo heroes:
“We would like to thank the following people, Dave Runyan, John Runyan and Robin Roberts, for saving our daughter’s and grandson’s lives when they stopped and helped them when they were involved in an accident on Feb. 21 on Apperson Way in front of Central Middle School.
“We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude for these three people, who stopped to help save our daughter and grandchild when others drove by like everything was normal. We think that they should be commended for putting their own lives at risk when no one else would.
“People like these three seem to be few and far between nowadays.
“As far as the school is concerned, we would also like to thank the teacher who helped and comforted our daughter and grandson inside the school.”
‘Standing behind their products’
Ron Runyon of Kokomo sends this Cheer for Lowes:
“In this era of ‘big box’ stores, my wife and I would like to applaud our local Lowes Home Center on their standing behind their products and services. The local store replaced all of the carpet in our home at no cost to us, due to a manufacturing defect in the old carpet.
“Thanks to our local Lowes store for an outstanding job.”
‘Fixed it without charge’
Harold Gibbons of Kokomo sends this Cheer to Triple Nickle:
“I would like to thank the good people at Triple Nickle roofing company. I had a small leak, and they came right out and fixed it without charge.
“Thanks again to Triple Nickle roofing.”
Nader vote is one for McCain
Albert F. Worth Jr. of Kokomo sends this Jeer for Ralph Nader:
“Today, Ralph Nader once again announces his bid for the presidency. This once public advocate, now a political loose cannon, is out to disrupt yet another election. He has no genuine chance of winning this election, but is in it to deprive yet another good Democrat from winning the White House.
“A vote for Nader is a vote for McCain to win.
“In the 2000 presidential election, it was Nader who prevented then Democratic candidate Al Gore from winning the election. I firmly believe that if Nader hadn’t entered the race, we would have a much better world today. The Bush presidency has been an utter failure in many ways, not excluding this fumbled Iraq war.
“This is a war of our own creation. Bush chose not to believe the U.N. inspectors and plunged this nation into a war that appears to have no end.
“A vote for Ralph Nader is a vote for the war, because it will ensure a McCain victory. Let us not be fooled and vote for the Democratic choice, whomever that might be.
“As for me, I pray it’s Sen. Barack Obama. To me, Nader is in it to ruin it for Obama, nothing more, nothing less.”
Thanks for the help
Bill Gaunt, vice commandant of the Albert E. Shockey Marine Corps League, sends this Cheer on behalf of his colleagues:
“I would like to send this Cheer to the management of Kroger on the west side, Kroger Maple Crest shopping center and south side Marsh for allowing us to use their properties for a recent fundraiser to raise money for our Military Rites team.
“A special Cheer and a big thank-you to the customers of the aforementioned stores for making it a successful event.”
