Listening, responding
Michaelene Andersen sends this Cheer on behalf of the folks in Break Away:
“The Break Away Bicycle Club of Kokomo extends a sincere thanks to Mr. Keith Morgan and the staff at the Indiana American Water Co. for their part in felling trees on Park Road, which obstructed the view when exiting Jackson Morrow Park.
“The trees had been planted to help beautify the area around water pipes coming out of the ground. However, the trees had grown such that anyone pulling out and on to Park Road had to edge out and almost into the oncoming traffic from the left!
“In addition, the position of the trees would not allow one to easily see a car coming over the knoll to the right, just before the entrance to the park.
“It was difficult to ask that something be done, as no one wants to see a healthy, beautiful tree cut down. Trees and natural foliage are necessary for the cycle of life for all creatures, but under the circumstances something needed to be done for the safety of those leaving the park.
“Again, to those who listened to our concerns and responded, we are very grateful!”
915 participate in Ride
Tammy Gilbert, Debbie Biddle, Rodney Walker, Yacky Byers and Tom Badham of the Ride for the Troops Committee send this Cheer to the community:
“A big Cheer goes out to Kokomo for those who parked along the route to cheer on the bikes, and to the riders who participated in the 75-mile, sixth annual Ride for the Troops April 27. We had a tremendous turnout with 915 bikes!
“This ride is to honor all United States servicemen and women all over the world, at home and our veterans. We do not accept cash donations, and this ride is done strictly through volunteers, community support and donated items. No profits are ever made by this ride.
“We have all been given freedom by those who defend our country and rights, and in return we host this free ride to show our support and appreciation. It is such a great tribute to have so many people who have various opinions on current events to put them aside and do what this ride’s sole purpose is, and that is to Ride for the Troops for those serving and our veterans.
“We want to thank the community for its continued support, and we plan to have the seventh annual on Sunday, April 26, 2009. Without all of you, we could not make this happen.
“We wish to thank the Indiana National Guard, Tammy Lively, Kevin Burris and the WWKI crew, Golden Corral, Coca-Cola, Leonard and Rhonda Harris, Paige Gain, Kathy Tinder, the Rev. Will and Kathleen Mills, Christian Motorcyclist Association, Mike and Susie Butcher, Z92Five, 98.5, Sam’s Club, Meijer, D.J.
