‘Concern and compassion’
Bill Carlson of SonnyCare sends this Cheer to Stephen Moore of Med-Depot:
“I would like to publicly acknowledge and say a big thank-you to Stephen Moore of Med-Depot Inc.
“On Saturday, May 10, Stephen left his family in Peru to come to Kokomo to remove a hospice bed for one of our clients. He knew that the space was limited and wanted to free up as much as he could as soon as possible for the comfort of the client. Stephen’s concern and compassion in this situation went above and beyond his job.
“It is always a pleasure to work with people of Stephen’s caliber, who haven’t forgotten why they have chosen the medical/home-care field.”
‘Kindness and compassion’
Shawn Hayes of Greentown sends this Cheer to those working at Manor Care:
“My dad, Frank Schafer, just past away recently and had been a resident of Manor Care Nursing Home of Kokomo for the past 4.5 years. I wish to express my deep appreciation for the wonderful care, kindness and compassion given by all nurses, aides and staff members of this facility. The last eight weeks of his life were very traumatic for him and his family. The staff members of this facility and corporate office personnel couldn’t have been more caring, kind and helpful to my dad and our family.
“This facility goes one step beyond the call of duty in the care of its residents. Thank you, Manor Care.”
‘May God richly bless you’
Ollie E. Fisher of the Good Samaritan & Holy Cross Alumni Association sends this Cheer to those who made contributions for scholarships:
“I wish to thank the following businesses for their generous contributions to, and support of, the Good Samaritan & Holy Cross Alumni Association. Funds generated from this annual event will be used for the Sister Bernadette Scholarship Fund through St. Joseph Hospital. These monies will directly assist in sponsoring students who wish to pursue a career in the medical field.
“We send a special thank-you to those who have helped us in the past and continue to support us in these difficult times. We are blessed and thankful to have new contributors come forward this year to help us as well. We would ask this community’s assistance in their generous support of these businesses. Being a successful community is achieved when everyone works together for the good of all.
“They are: Banner Flower House, Bridget’s Hair Classics, Burger King, Golden Corral, Grindstone Charley’s Restaurant & Pub, Great Clips, Hacienda Restaurant, Kroger, Mike’s Express Carwash, The Movie Gallery, Olive Garden, Red Lobster, Regis Salons, Shoe Carnival, Steak ‘N Shake, St. Joseph Hospital Foundation, Sycamore Cottage, Wal-Mart and the Windmill Grill. Also, I want to thank those individuals who wish to remain anonymous for their generous private donations.
“Again, we deeply appreciate our local businesses, and those individuals helping with this much-needed assistance and for making this another successful year. Your contributions are truly a gift of caring to this healing ministry.
“‘Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.’ (Luke 6:38)
“May God richly bless each of you.”
‘Thanks, Wal-Mart’
Sue Gibson of Kokomo High School’s Fortnightly sends this Cheer to the folks at Wal-Mart:
“I would like to send a Cheer to Wal-Mart, assistant manager Tasha and co-manager Scott for their contribution and participation in a recent scavenger hunt. Our Fortnightly group through Kokomo High School recently planned our annual senior party. Part of the party was a scavenger hunt though Wal-Mart, purchasing specific items for the residents of Howard Haven. Tasha was wonderful in working with me to get approval for the scavenger hunt, helping me locate the items and bringing in other Wal-Mart employees to participate in our event. Scott was there the day of the hunt and graciously took the time to take me around to each of the departments that were helping us out and distributing the lists.
“Thanks also to Ethel in the bakery, Gideon in electronics, Angie at the fitting rooms and Will and Stan in sporting goods, who handed out the clues to the kids and mixed things up a bit for them. Also, Wal-Mart generously made a donation toward our purchases for the day. Everyone involved had a wonderful time. Thanks, Wal-Mart.”
