Harris Bank paints rooms

Maj. David W. Moffitt of The Salvation Army of Kokomo sends this Cheer for Harris Bank:

“The Salvation Army of Kokomo and Howard County wishes to thank the employees of Harris Bank, including offices in Kokomo, Tipton and Indianapolis, for their excellent work in painting our former day care activity room and office.

“Their donation of time and paint for the project is greatly appreciated, and their attention to detail and pride in their work was evident in the final result – two beautifully painted rooms.”

BMX racer recognized

Former Kokomo resident Jenny Wilson sends this Cheer for a mentor:

“I would like to give a big Cheer to Steve Wallace.

“He helped my sister Heather and I achieve everything in the sport of BMX, taught us everything we needed to know to be successful. Even though he has been battling with a disabling nerve disorder, he still took the time. He was also a true champion in his racing days in the early ’80s.

“He picked up the BMX Dedication Award earlier this month, too. Thanks for everything, Steve!”

$3,000 raised for Make A Wish

United Auto Workers Local 685 sends this Cheer:

“UAW Region 3 and UAW Local 685 would like to thank all the local sponsors that gave their support to our Make A Wish fundraiser! Without your support and help, this event would not have been possible!

“We want everyone to know that this endeavor raised $3,000 for Make A Wish of Indiana!”

Spay or neuter your pet

Kimberly A. Quillen of Kokomo sends this Jeer for irresponsible pet owners:

“I do not understand why anyone would agree to having a pet if they are not willing to be responsible for it. Just feeding your dog or cat is not enough. They are living beings and require loving attention and, yes, medical attention at times.

“Do not take on the responsibility if you do not agree to this. You make it worse for the poor animal if you are not willing to be responsible. Have your pet fixed if you do not wish to have additional pets.

“Can you understand this responsibility? Nature will take its course and your pet will multiply. If you cannot take care of the first one, then you won’t be able to take care of those who will follow.

“I see the ads in the paper for free kittens and dogs; I see the unwanted animals at the pound, and I wonder, if you were made to stand there when the poor thing has to be euthanized, would you reconsider how you go about raising that first pet of yours?

“Could you find it in your heart to do the right thing? Please, spay or neuter your pet so that there are no unnecessary deaths on your hands.”
