Longtime teachers retire at Taylor High

Taylor High School principal A.D. Titus Little sends this Cheer to nine, long-serving teachers:

“Next year, due to a retirement incentive, Taylor High School will look very different with nine teachers retiring out of 33. George Phares (mathematics), Mike Ward (industrial tech and P.E.), Bill Rebuck (chemistry), Judy Sellers (social studies and P.E.), Dave Wise (business), Pat Boardman (English), Bev Pugh (English), Darlene Henderson (French) and Joyce Lytle (art) will all leave us to pursue the next phase of their lives. While we wish them well, their talents, work ethic, good nature and wisdom will be sadly missed. Thank you, colleagues, for all that you have done for Taylor Community Schools.”

First ‘Ales for Tails’ exceeds expectations

Linda McFatridge, education coordinator for the Kokomo Humane Society, Jackie Koontz, its administrative assistant, and the entire Society staff send this Cheer to Kokomo and Howard County after the organization’s recent “Ales for Tails” fund-raiser:

“The Kokomo Humane Society would like to express its heartfelt thanks to all who supported the first ‘Ales for Tails’ fund-raiser June 21. The attendance and reception from the community was overwhelming and far exceeded our expectations. It was a great evening filled with fun, friends and festivities. Trip excites Eastern’s Kidz Rulz team!

“The Eastern Middle School creative problem-solving Destination ImagiNation ‘Kidz Rulz’ team would like to give heartfelt thanks to all of the businesses and individuals who donated money so that we could compete in the DI Global Finals competition at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, Tenn. It was quite an experience to meet and compete with teams from other states and countries! We thank you for this unique experience! We were very proud to represent our Eastern schools, Howard County and the state of Indiana! Placing sixth internationally is an experience we will never forget!

‘A great time was had by all!’ at golf tourney

This Cheer, from the Tribal Trails Council, goes to those who helped with and participated in the Girl Scout Golf Tourney:

“The Girl Scouts of Tribal Trails Council wishes to thank all those responsible for the success of the 26th annual Girl Scout Golf Tourney. The outing took place June 3 at Wildcat Creek Golf Course in Kokomo. Quoting Marcia Eckstein, development director, ‘It is with your support and generosity that we are able to provide quality summer programs for girls ages 5-17 in Carroll, Cass, Fulton, Howard, Miami, Pulaski and Wabash counties. We sincerely thank all of the members of the foursomes who played.’
