Thank you for remembering

This Cheer comes from the family of Douglas Hogan Jr.:

“We would like to thank John Martino and the Parks Department for restoring a memorial in honor of our father, Councilman Douglas Hogan Jr.

“The memorial, which is located in Studebaker Park, had endured the elements over a long period of time. We felt the need to keep his memory alive for his dedication and service to Kokomo’s Third District.

“We thank John and the Parks Department for their swift attention to his memorial.

“On behalf of the Hogan family, thank you for remembering Councilman Douglas Hogan Jr.”

Shelter adds to garden

“I would like a big Cheer for the Leadership Kokomo class members who erected the shelter for the Community Garden. As one of the volunteers, believe me, we are sincerely thankful for the shade during the heat of the day and the protection from the rain.

“The comfort that the shelter will provide will be invaluable to us for working in the weather and for helping recruit other volunteers. The recipients of the food we provide also thank you.

‘Some Enchanted Evening’

Heather Hammond of Waterford Place Health Campus sends this Cheer:

“The sky was clear and the seas were calm when the residents of Waterford Place Health Campus and The Legacy at Waterford Place sat down to enjoy a special Captain’s Dinner on Aug. 21. This cruise-themed dinner was planned specially for the campus residents and featured a menu with tastes from around the world. The menu included: South Seas Prawns, Mediterranean Caesar Salad with select heirloom garden greens, duo of beef tenderloin and seafood, fresh cornucopia of heartland vegetables, Royal Dessert and a selection of International Coffee and teas.

“Table decorations included candlelight (provided by LED tea lights in stemmed and glass votive holders), shells and a printed menu which was placed at each resident’s seat. Residents were invited to the dinner via a passport-style invitation that described a dinner featuring ‘exquisite cuisine, festive music, an attentive crew, and a world famous captain, Michael Wray, Executive Director, to make an unforgettable evening.’ Prior to the dinner, residents had their photos taken in front of a special photo backdrop that commemorated the event.

“The week leading up to the Captain’s Dinner featured special programming and activities that tied into the cruise theme including: Seven Seas Trivia, The Pirates of the Caribbean Sing-a-Long, and Cruise Trip Memorabilia.

“‘Our residents really enjoyed the special menu and decorations, and our staff had a wonderful time preparing for the event,’ Wray said. ‘We are already looking forward to our next themed dinner!’”

Kokomo police join in tourney
