Why is this so hard?
Sarah Allison of Tipton sends this Jeer for the Tipton County commissioners:
“To date, two letters to the editor have been published about the fact that the Tipton County commissioners need to act on the appointment recommendations from the county council to the county Economic Development Commission.
“This issue was also brought up in the February county council meeting. In the March council meeting the following discussions occurred.
“Councilwoman Beth Roach posed a question to Auditor Gregg Townsend: ‘As secretary for the commissioners, have they acted yet on our January recommendations for the Economic Development Commission? At the last meeting we asked that they take action on those two appointments to confirm them. Have they done that yet?’
“Auditor Townsend: ‘I don’t believe they did. I don’t recall that.’
“Commissioner VanBibber, who was in attendance, shook his head and affirmed that this had not been done.
“Councilwoman Beth Roach to Auditor Gregg Townsend: ‘Can you make a note then to put that on the agenda for the commissioners for their next meeting on Monday so we can get that tied up and made official?’
“Auditor Townsend: ‘Yes, I will do that.’
“At that point, the issue had been raised a total of four times in either a meeting or in the newspaper, noting that these recommendations need to be acted on. As a point of fact, one of the recommendations was made by the council 14 months ago.”
Kudos to our ‘plow heroes’
Howard County Commissioner Paul Wyman sends this Cheer:
“I hope I do not jinx us by sending this Cheer, but I am hopeful that severe wintry weather is behind us. As a county commissioner I get to work alongside many dedicated employees in government, serving the people of Howard County. Today, I would like to give some special recognition to our County Highway Department for the outstanding work they did this past winter with all of the snow plowing.
