CHEERS & JEERS: 'Reaping' the rewards; Ales for Tails raises $37,000

Thanks for the support

Dr. Melissa Jarrell of Jarrell Dentistry sends this Cheer to those who supported Smiles for Vets:

“My team and I would like to thank everyone who helped with our first “Smiles for Vets” event. We were so thankful that we were able to help out the veterans of this community.

“We could not have done this with out the help of our local sponsors that include Howard Print Shop, Scared Rabbit Productions, Project Access, Dr. Thompson, Orange Leaf, The Gingerbread House, Morning Star Church, Main Occasions, Coca-Cola, Expressions, American Tool and Party Rental, Lisa Theike, Bagwell Events, Mayor Greg Goodnight, McDonald’s, Starbucks, Main St. Cafe, Spotless Commercial Cleaning, Meijer, Kokomo Endodontics, Techniques Dental Lab, Dr. Wolfe, Wal-Mart, the Colts, American Legion, Texas Roadhouse, Half Moon Brewer, McAlister’s, Grindstone Charley’s, Red Lobster, the Western Jazz Choir, and all of our wonderful volunteers! We really appreciate all of your support and can’t wait to do it again next year!”

Cheers for Delphi Automotive Corp.

Van Taylor, executive director of the Kokomo Rescue Mission, sends this Cheer:

“Even though the day began with overcast skies and a mist of rain, 24 Delphi Corp. volunteers who came and worked at the Kokomo Rescue Mission brightened the day!

“Friday, June 20, was another successful ‘Delphi Gives Back Day.’ The hardworking volunteers repainted the Mission Dining Room and spruced up landscaping areas all around the property by tree and bush trimming, weeding, adding new plants and new mulch.

“At the Open Arms shelter, a group of Delphi volunteers repaired the wooden porch columns while another group built a bicycle storage area to keep the children’s bikes safe and out of the weather. Delphi employees and family members worked late into the afternoon and thanks to their efforts, several projects around the Kokomo Rescue Mission have been completed.

It was only a matter of time before this happened again; and I’m sad to say I’m not surprised at all.
On July 22, the Supreme Court gave the go-ahead for the killing of Arizona death row inmate James R. Wood III, who had filed suit requesting a delay until the state revealed the details of the drugs that would be used to end his life.
