Labor unions serve 1,030 children

Jody Howell of the UAW Local 292 School Supplies Committee sends this Cheer:

"UAW Local 292 has participated in the S.U.P.P.L.I.E.S (Supportive Unions Prepare Pupils for Learning in Every School) program for 17 years. It is coordinated by the Howard-Tipton Counties Labor Unions, in partnership with United Way, Salvation Army, UAW and Chrysler.

"This year, we served more than 1,030 children in grades K-12 in need of school supplies.

"This program cannot succeed without donations and the financial support from those who care the most. Special thanks go to Local 292 Retirees, the Del Ra (nut ladies!) Club, and Local 292 Active members. Also Rebecca Rostron, Terri Edgell, Sandy Powell, Carol Hicks, Tonya Youngblood, Sharon Geiselman, Sue Conner, Mark Stephens, several unknown heroes and the General Motors Components Holdings staff.

"Thank you just doesn’t seem to be enough. But I am very grateful for everyone’s generosity!"

It was only a matter of time before this happened again; and I’m sad to say I’m not surprised at all.
On July 22, the Supreme Court gave the go-ahead for the killing of Arizona death row inmate James R. Wood III, who had filed suit requesting a delay until the state revealed the details of the drugs that would be used to end his life.
