Police uncover drug lab

Kokomo police uncovered an illegal drug lab in the 400 block of North Lafountain Street early Sunday morning.

Following an investigation into illegal drug activity, police arrived at the home of John Whittaker, 37, and found anhydrous ammonia, methamphetamine and an undetermined amount of U.S. currency.

Whittaker was arrested at 12:27 a.m., on charges of possession of methamphetamine within 1,000 feet of a family housing complex, a class B felony, illegal drug lab, a class C felony, possession of a single precursor, a class C felony, and possession of annhydrous ammonia, a class C felony.

Kokomo Police were assisted by the Howard County Drug Task Force, Indiana State Police and Emergency Management Agency in safely removing the lab from the premises. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Shane Melton at (765) 456-7345.

Friday, 1:51 a.m., police arrested Scott A. Hale, 38, Greenfield, at St. Joseph Hospital, on a warrant for operating while intoxicated, a class A misdemeanor, driving while suspended with priors, a class A misdemeanor, and leaving scene of property damage accident.

Friday, 11:55 a.m., police arrested a 17-year-old girl in the 600 block of Southlea Drive for runaway.

Friday, 3:30 p.m.., police arrested a 15-year-old boy on a charge of criminal mischief, a class B misdemeanor.

Friday, 7:37 p.m., police arrested a 17-year-old girl at Kohl’s, 2156 E. Boulevard on a charge of conversion, a class A misdemeanor.

Friday, 9:27 a.m., police arrested Joseph Alan Pickett, 47, 5200 block of Council Ring, at Armstrong and Gerhart streets, on a charge of operating while intoxicated, a class A misdemeanor, and possession of marijuana, a class A misdemeanor.

Friday, 8:58 p.m., police arrested Christopher Peoples, 20, 1400 block of North Indiana Avenue, in the 800 block of North Indiana Avenue, on a charge of robbery, a class B felony.

Friday, 9:40 p.m., police arrested Steven A. Bailey, 21, 1200 block of West Madison, at Madison and Lindsay streets on a failure to appear..
