Peru police continue robbery investigation

PERU — The Peru Police Department is investigating an armed robbery last month at First Merchants Bank, 990 W. Main St.

Officers arrived on scene Dec. 11 around 4:30 p.m. after the bank reported a man walked into the building and displayed a handgun. Police said the man left the bank with an undisclosed amount of money.

He was last seen walking from the bank across Main Street. He was then seen running back across Main Street toward the Kmart parking lot minutes later.

Police said the man was approximately 6 feet tall with a slender build. He was wearing a light-colored hoodie sweatshirt, blue jeans and had some type of covering on his face.
